TOP GUN BASEBALL MACHINE PITCH RULES

Pitching Line: There shall be a ten (10) foot line set at forty-two (42) feet from the rear point of home
plate. All Infielders must stay behind this line until the ball is hit unless the batter squares to bunt. The
pitcher must have at least one foot within this area (left or right) and can not be further than the 5 foot
line behind the pitching line.

Safety Line: A safety line will be 30 feet from home plate. No player may be inside of the safety line on
contact of a batted ball. PENALTY - BATTER WILL BE AWARDED FIRST BASE

Pitching Machine: The front legs of the pitching machine will be set at a distance of forty-two (42)
feet from the rear point of home plate. Pitching machine speeds: 39 M.P.H. – 42 M.P.H. for all Machine
Pitch Games.

Mercy Rules:
15 after three (3) innings (2 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead.)
10 after four (4) innings (3 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead.)
8 after five (5) innings (4 1/2 innings is the home team is ahead.)

Base length will be 60 feet.

Home Team will be determined for all pool games by a flip of the coin. Home Teams for bracket games
will be the team with the highest seed except the Championship Game, which is determined by a coin
flip. Home Teams are always responsible for keeping the official scorebook.

Ten (10) defensive players shall play in the field with four (4) outfielders. The fourth (4th) outfielder
shall not assume an infield position. Outfielders may NOT cover 2nd base for a put out.

The defensive player listed as pitcher shall not leave the pitching line area until the ball is hit unless the
batter squares to bunt. If the umpire determines a violation has occurred then the play continues. After
the play has ended, the offensive team has the option of taking the result of the play or no-pitch. A
Second Offense will result in removal of player from the pitching position for the remainder of the game
and the team will play with only 5 infielders and 4 outfielders.

Defensive coaches are not allowed on the field of play and will only coach from the dugout area.

The Infield Fly Rule will not be in effect at any time.

The batting order will consist of all present players on the team roster at the beginning of the game.
Late arrivals shall be inserted at the bottom of the batting order. All players on the roster must bat
before returning to the top of the batting order. (EXAMPLE: ALL UNIFORMED PLAYERS IN
THE DUGOUT MUST BAT. IF 15 PLAYERS ARE ON THE ROSTER AND PRESENT, ALL 15
MUST BAT, ETC.)

Teams may start a game with eight (8) players. The ninth (9th) & tenth (10th) positions in the batting
order will be declared an out each time at bat. A ninth (9th) & tenth (10th) player and all subsequent
players may be added to the batting order as soon as they become available.

Teams may use free substitution on defense but the batting order will always remain the same.

Teams are allowed to bunt a maximum of two (2) times per inning. A bunt must be in fair territory to
count against limit. A missed bunt or foul ball on a bunt does not count against the limit.

Fake bunts are not allowed. A batter that “shows” bunt is committed to an attempt to bunt or take the
pitch. If a batter swings after “showing” bunt then the batter will be called out and no runners may
advance.

The batter shall receive a maximum of six (6) pitches or three (3) swinging strikes. On the last pitch a
player that fouls the pitch will not be called out.

A player may only be Intentionally Walked once per game. The defensive team Manager must notify the
umpire before or during the at bat.

Runners shall not lead-off or steal bases. A runner is out for leaving the base before the ball is hit or
reaches home plate.

A courtesy runner for catcher of record only the previous inning may be used. The courtesy runner shall
be the player that made the previous out. If no outs have been recorded in the game, the courtesy runner
shall be the previous batter not on base.

A team may score a maximum of seven (7) runs per inning or record three (3) outs.

Umpires shall call “Time” after every play and declare the ball dead. “Time” shall be called as soon as
the lead runner is not attempting to advance. “Time” does not have to be called by the defense for the
purpose of this rule. When a runner stands off a base and “jukes” back and forth, this is to be interpreted,
as “not attempting to advance” and “Time” shall be called.

When a batted ball hits the pitching machine, the ball is dead, the batter is awarded first (1st) base and
all runners shall advance one (1) base.

If an umpire determines a player is injured and has a safety concern, he may use his judgment to stop
play even if the ball is not dead. The Offensive players will be awarded one additional base for an infield
injury and 2 additional bases for an outfield injury.
